Indian Remy Hair Weave: What You Should Know Before You Get That Weave

Are you looking to switch your style up for the latest fashion season?  Or just looking for a change in your life?  Then wearing a good weave can definitely help you further your goals.  Many women wear weaves for different reasons, but the core reason remains the same: to look good!

One of the most popular style of weaves out today is the Indian Remy hair weave.  It is a dark brown to jet black 100% human hair that is imported straight from India.  This type of weave is typically sewn in, and lasts much longer than the “typical” types you see at the local beauty supply stores.

Who Can Wear It

Who can wear a Remy Hair Weave? Well, virtually anyone.  It does not matter your hair texture, race, nationality or experience.  If you have a good hair dresser, you can get the weave put I however you like.  Notice we said good hair dresser.   Of course you do not want to go to a novice who will have your hair looking way too unnatural and weird.  A lot of your favorite celebrities wear weaves & extensions and you just don’t know it.  We cannot tell you who they are here for certain reasons, but just do a double take the next time you see a singer or actress with wonderful, flowing, hair.  She probably paid a pretty penny for it!  And fret not, you can look just like her and pay a lot less if you just know how!

Where Do The Weaves Come From?

Good question.  A lot of women don’t even ask this question before they start gluing the tracts in.  What’s worse, wearing another woman’s hair or a horse’s?! Do you even have to answer that? But let’s go into where these wonderful Remy weaves come from.

Remy hair is virgin Indian hair.  Meaning, it is hair from an Indian girl from India.  The hair is clipped off the girl’s hair, packaged, and sold in all parts of the world as hair extensions.  This is not done in some rogue or random way, it is highly organized and highly skilled and trained barbers have been working in the hair industry for years in India performing this service.  Human hair weave is one of the most lucrative Indian exports due to Indian women’s natural silky, smooth, jet black hair.

Versus Other Types of Weaves

When you compare Indian weaves to other types of weaves there is little point of comparison.  This is some of the best hair money can buy.  Some of the most elaborate pieces can go for several hundred to in the thousands of dollars in the United States.  Again, this is because Indian women’s hair have the right combination of color, texture, and flow.  Most of the weaves can even be used more than one time.  Right there is a good enough reason to make that investment.

There are other types of hair you may want to research though.  Brazilian weaves are popular for their curls, bounce, and spring.  And there are also synthetic weaves that are cheaper than real human hair.  If you are looking for that different texture, or if your money isn’t strong enough for the real deal then you should check out those alternatives for the time being.

What Makes Remy Weaves So Special?

Quite frankly, because they are REAL.  Point blank.  We are not going to lie to you.  With a real human hair weave there is nothing you cannot do.  Once the tracts are in, you can curl your hair straighten it, color it, do whatever it is you like- just as if it was your own hair!  These extensions are known to last a long time, usually months on end.  And most of the time people around you won’t even know that you are wearing a weave because it looks so natural!

Since Remy hair is real Indian hair, your stylist should have no problem styling it for you as well once it is applied.  You want your hair to look healthy, beautiful, and vibrant when you enter a room.  You don’t want people focused on your hair negatively.  You want them looking at you in awe of how beautiful you look! Remember the hair is just one part of the whole package- you!  With beautiful hair, everything else looks better on you too!  Your clothes, your shoes, makeup, accessories, and most importantly the way you carry yourself will all look much better when you feel better about how your hair looks!

Cost and Where to Buy

There are many different places you can buy.  Remy Indian hair is sold at trade shows, salons, and hair shops all across the country.  If you cannot for some odd reason find it in your area then you always have the internet to fall back on.  Online there are many different dealers and brokers you can go to for your needs.

The cost of course depends on what style you go with and how many inches of hair you need.  Right now, the average prices range from around $100 for 12 inches (100g) all the way to over $200 for over 30 inches.  It all depends on what you’ll need.  It is probably best that you consult with the stylist who is going to be putting in the hair for you because only he or she can give you the best estimate on what you’ll really need to get the job done.

How to Make Remy Hair Last Longer

This is a common issue for many women.  You finally make the plunge to start purchasing real remy hair and are worried about how to properly take care of it so that it lasts longer.  That is totally understandable.  Many people have been in your footsteps before so do not even get stressed out about it. It is completely understandable that you want something that you spend hundreds of dollars on to last longer than a few weeks.  When done right remy hair should last you a few months.  Yes, a few months!  So what should you do?

First of all you have to remember that this is real hair.  Just like the hair that grows out of your scalp.  Yes the texture and density might be different but it still all human hair the same.  And you should and will have to take care of your weave just as you would your regular hair.  The thing is you have to be very careful about the products you put in your hair.

Some women have a regular routine where they wash their weave every week or so and have it re applied.  That is a good way to go if you have the time.  You can wash your hair in a sink and use the same products as you would when washing the hair that grows out of your scalp.

If you don’t have that kind of time then washing your hair while it is still sewn in works as well.  Just take your time.  Be very gentle with your weave.  Remy hair is already really shiny or healthy looking so you should not need a ton of conditioner when you decide to condition it.  You should use a little bit less product that you would with your own hair on your weave.

That’s about it.  Just stay on schedule, wash your hair regularly and don’t go over board with the conditioner!
